1916 and IrelandIn 2016, all attention toward Ireland will look back to the the One Hundred Year Anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising and it's role in the formation of the Republic of Ireland. In addition to learning about those days in history, a new 1916 Mobile Phone, Smartphone Computer Application Program will assist in the discovery and memories of the Volunteers involved in 1916 who might be associated with your family genealogy or heritage. The 1916 Ap includes an Audio Trail, bringing you on a detailed and interactive journey through the events of the Easter Week of 1916. The virtual tour can be accessed anywhere in the world, and if you visit Dublin, turn on your smart phones GPS. You will be guided through 15 locations around Dublin City Centre, starting at Liberty Hall and ending at Collins Barracks. Each location on the app also has its own audio narration that brings the story of the Easter Rising to life. To accompany the audio there are also pictures of each location to give you a better Idea of what it looked like in 1916. |
