An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD recently endorsed the "Ireland Reaching Out" initiative, wherein the Republic of Ireland officialy encourages citizens to reach out on a community and parish level to former residents and their descendants. The Tourism industry in Ireland has for some time been thuroughly engaged in catering to and encouraging such homeland travel visits. "There are few human instincts stronger than the need to belong," said Mr Kenny. "And it is not surprising that for many people, tracing their genealogy becomes a personal and emotional journey."
