The Saints of Christian Ireland

Religious Parish is an area around a church, cathedral, chapel, or building used for Christian gatherings and worship services. Most Church of Ireland boundaries match the Civil Parish districts, while Roman Catholic might sometimes vary. Both may have the same name of an ancient worthy or Saint of notariety, so be certain to distinguish between these overlaps if possible to find the path of your people.

Other Christiam groups, as well as other faiths, will have other locations of note where records may have been created in the daily lives of our people.

Religious Parish Districts

Don't get a religious parish mixed up with a civil parish. While many civil parish boundaries are similar to those of the Church of Ireland (Protestant), the Roman Catholic parish boundaries may reflect a different area or overlap. Both religious parishes are typically grouped with others into a Diocese or Episcopal See.
