Incoming Project: Sicily Sicilia

One of our visitors has been researching three villages in Sicily, Casteldacia, Caltavuturo, and Caccamo.

They are also researching the Monestary or Churches, and Orphanages in the first two villages.

Some men from these villages came through New York. Some came through New Orleans. Some may have traveled through both. There is an Italy origin community area north northwest of New Orleans at the beginning years of the 1900s. Some probably continued up the Mississippi to Coal Mines in the mid USA.

If you have similar interests, further information, contacts, researchers, archives, or are familiar with these areas, they would be glad to communicate with you.

The best general overview book and history of Sicily they have read is "3000 years of History"

In classic times Timatheus wrote a history of early Sicily and Calabria, which unfortuantely has not yet been found.
