Partholan Keating's sources introduce Partholan 300 years after the flood (A.M. 1956) from "Migdonia", or "middle Greece". According to the antiquarian Mac Firbis 1650, he references an ancient Ireland where one Partholan was the first to arrive after the Deluge. In rebuttal to those who consider anything before the Milesian era,as legendary, folklore, or pre-history myth, he states: "They will acknowledge their own falsehood in this matter, if they will but see the number of alien races which are given in this book alone, which are not carried up to the sons of Milesius, as may be seen in several places in the body of the book, and let them compare them with one another."
