Reverse Genealogy [part 2]Another great idea, which we beleive may have been started by some society in the USA, is a hyperlinked census. By soliciting researchers who know of an existing census entry for which they know is their family, they then create an electronic version of that census entry, whereby any future visitors to that census site would have an weblink or email reference to an actual descendant. This is a wonderful project, which could theoretically produce a hyperlink to a family genealogy website or descendacy list for each census household. We hope to refer you to this offsite weblink soon. Our initial project in similar regard, for Dublin, is the Target 1798 Project. The difference being that no census exists, and all entries submitted are accompanied by a brief source record reference as well as the hyperlink contact. However, the most dynamic approach to reverse genealogy, would be Passenger Ship Lists. These entries after about 1900, list port or departure AND arrival, place of destination AND origin, as well as closest relative in the States AND back home. This is a magnificent transition identification waiting to fill in in the blanks between the known and the unknown. By dividing and sorting such a multiple table database, one could provide such information to all those keystone point parties. Not to mention a direct link if they are hyperlinked to relatives as in the census example above.
